Paul was the CTO of Groupon, where he worked to scale and enhance the premier global platform for local e-commerce. Previously, Paul was a co-founder and CTO of Ludic Labs where he designed and developed a new class of online discovery, advertising, loyalty and promotional tools for local. Paul was also a co-founder and CTO of Inktomi Corporation, a pioneering internet technology company. Paul invented and developed Inktomi's search engine, the first commercial search engine based on distributed-memory parallel computation, allowing it to scale with the rapid growth of the Internet. Until recently, Paul's work lived on as Yahoo! Search. Paul has conducted academic research on Internet systems, distributed computing and search technology in the graduate programs of the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Washington.
