Kilo is Chief Medical Officer at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) where his responsibilities include performance improvement, clinical risk management, infection prevention and control, regulatory and medical affairs, and clinical informatics. Prior to joining OHSU, Kilo started and ran GreenField Health, a primary care medical group that also provides consulting in quality and performance improvement. He was previously a vice president at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) where he ran the Idealized Design of Clinical Office Practices initiative which sparked a national focus on medical practice improvement and redesign. Kilo works regularly with the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians and others on issues of healthcare performance improvement and health system reform. He is on the Board of Directors for Kryptiq Corporation, the Foundation for Medical Excellence and TransforMED, LLC - a subsidiary of the AAFP formed to drive practice performance improvement. In 2005, along with Mark Leavitt, he edited the book Medical Practice Redesign with Information Technology.
