Richard Jordan

A seasoned 20+ year veteran of Silicon Valley startups, Richard develops people as well as software and has a solid track record of managing both individual contributors and engineering managers. As a software engineering leader Richard is a patient mentor who focuses on building learning cultures. He believes strongly in the need for senior software engineers to pass on their knowledge and experience, and in creating the environment where this can be accomplished effectively, leading by example. Richard graduated in Physics from the University of Leeds in 1995 and worked in enterprise IT in London during the late nineties, in roles with escalating levels of responsibility. In 1997 he took over running the IT Service Desk for Halliburton Brown and Root where he built and led a team of over 40 technical staff and turned a failing function into a stellar performer, saving the company millions of dollars per year. He left Halliburton in 1999 to move to the San Francisco Bay Area. Richard has experienced all aspects of building high-tech startups. After coming to Silicon Valley during the dot.com boom with his own startup, he spent most of the next decade in founder or go-to-market roles for a number of startups. As a several-times founder Richard raised investment from both private and VC investors and achieved one (small) exit by acquisition. Around 2009/2010 he returned to software engineering, and his roots as a first-generation computer nerd - he still has his original Apple II on his desk! Since then he has worked as a full-stack engineer and in software engineering management at startups including Teespring, Enjoy Technology, Voy (Surf Air) and SnackNation. Richard is currently Director of Engineering at Fintech startup XCLAIM.
