Maurizio is a high technology serial entrepreneur and investor. His career spans over 20 years inspired by the belief that material sciences, wireless, and lifesciences are and at an inflection point and are poised to again dramatically change the way we live and work. He is currently Chairman of technology accelerator Synthetica, a position he has held since the firms' founding in 1998. Maurizio has been involved in strategy formulation and capital formation as well as led product development and commercialization for over a dozen early stage companies, primarily in connection with technologies incubated in government and university R&D, spanning software, internet, wireless and life-sciences. As part of that effort he managed translation into products of intellectual properties resulting from research conducted at British Telecom's Adastral Park Research Center in Ipswich UK, one of the world's largest R&D facilities, and interfaced with scientists, engineers and management to build products and spin out companies. He also has worked with closely with the DOD, NASA the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Health in commercializing key intellectual properties from their sponsored research. He is currently serving as CEO and a director of Synthetica incubated cancer nanomedicine pioneer Arrogene, Inc. a company he helped spin out of the Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is also CEO of Synthetica portfolio company CompuMed, Inc. a telemedicine and healthcare services and applications a position he has held since 2007. He is also Chairman of The IDEAS Studio an e-Learning company he co-founded currently in stealth mode. Previously he was CEO of Trestle Holdings, Inc. a cancer biomarker and clinical pathology company, CEO of Microwave Photonics, a next generation wireless infrastructure company which he helped spin-out of British Telecom, Plc. and he was a co-founder, President and CEO of internet e-commerce and multi-media pioneer ModaCAD, Inc. (later Styleclick, Inc) until the sale of the Company to InterActive Corp, (then USA Networks). Blending uniquely a training in the sciences, a pedigree as a researcher, and 20 years of sr. management experience, Vecchione has led the translation into products of over 100 products, and has been a global thought leader in areas of how companies can drive innovation and monetize their intellectual properties driven R&D assets. Mr. Vecchione is a frequent speakers on the innovation echo-system and has been a presented at TED, DEMO among others. He was twice a finalist for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year award. He is a member of the ACM, and the IEEE.
