Cyrus Nikou

Cyrus Nikou is an entrepreneur, innovator, and philanthropist based on the West Coast. Founder of Atar Capital, a private equity firm focused on socially responsible investments and sustainable development, he oversees all aspects of the firm's strategy, including mergers and acquisitions, operations, and corporate development. Since its inception, Atar has acquired and manages a global portfolio of 20 companies generating $1.5B annually in combined revenue. Collectively, the firm's principals have completed 80 private equity transactions across 18 countries worldwide. Specializing in acquiring complex corporate carve-outs and underperforming businesses, Atar is a collaborative partner that helps lead and nurture companies toward continuous growth and achievement. Noteworthy Atar portfolio companies include Pathways Health & Community Support and WinCup Corporation: Pathways is an innovative mental health services organization, and WinCup leads the market in sustainable solutions for diverse disposable products, such as utensils, cups, straws, and lids. Prior to launching Atar, Cyrus Nikou was co-founder and managing partner of Revolution Capital Group, an L.A.-based private equity firm with a portfolio that included Tampa Media Group, Dove Professional Apparel, and Maysteel Industries. He also founded Funded Capital, a mortgage bank providing real estate solutions to homeowners, including real estate services, mortgage loans, and escrow services. Socially responsible investing is a cornerstone of Nikou's life and work. As a father of two young children, he believes it is possible to address the world's most challenging problems through smart investments that will positively impact our future. Toward this goal, Nikou maintains deep connections with organizations supporting social responsibility, giving significant time and financial support to nonprofits and community organizations such as the I Have A Dream Foundation, Los Angeles Children's Hospital, and Upward Bound House. He also promotes camaraderie and community through his efforts on the board of the Sierra Canyon School, a college preparatory day and boarding school where he maintains an active presence and committed vision for future generations. Born in Canada and raised in California, Nikou holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and corporate finance from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. He’s a loyal supporter of his alma mater and participates in the school’s booster community. When not at the helm of Atar or contributing his time and energy to philanthropic organizations, Nikou enjoys spending time with his children, traveling, and golfing.
