Jade Van Doren

Jade Van Doren is serial entrepreneur, advisor, and investor based in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and currently runs Referent Ventures - an angel investment and advising firm. Jade was most recently CEO of AllTrails - the most trusted outdoor platform in the world. He drove the company’s product-led growth to profitability, as well as a $75M recap with Spectrum Equity and the acquisitions of Trails.com, iFootpath and GPSies. The company currently has over 60 million registered users and over 1 million paying subscribers. Previously, Jade was CEO and Co-founder of hopOn, which reinvented the experience of booking travel for millennials. hopOn raised $1M from investors including New Enterprise Associates and sold to Kayak Co-founder Paul English's new travel startup Lola. Prior to hopOn, Jade was CEO and Co-founder of TechForward, creators of the first Guaranteed Buyback® Plans for consumer electronics, which have been sold by Dell, Best Buy, Office Depot, and RadioShack among others. The company raised $7.5M from New Enterprise Associates and First Round Capital, and was acquired by SquareTrade in 2012. Prior to TechForward, Jade helped grow Beatnik, Inc. an audio software company whose audio engine is now the core of most mobile phone audio systems. His experience also includes Sony Corporation's Partnerships and Standards Strategy group at the company's global headquarters in Tokyo, and product management on Macromedia's Flash product team. Jade holds an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he won the Parsky and Wolfen fellowships for entrepreneurship, and a B.A. cum laude from Williams College.
