Leo Chan is currently a member at Sand Hill Angels. He has over 25 years of experience in delivering enterprise software to market and building scalable internet applications, most recently with Xignite, the leading financial market data cloud service. Leo had previously launched ConnectedWorld LLC, an enterprise instant messaging software company, and assisted a Silicon Valley venture capital group in the establishment of Savvio.com, an internet travel company. Leo managed the database engineering team at Zip2, an online media firm, until it was acquired by AltaVista, prior to developing start-up companies from the ground up. Leo began his career at Oracle, where he held positions as an engineer and a senior manager, and was a member of the team that helped expand UNIX sales from less than $50 million to over a billion dollars in 1996. He was also a key figure in the development of the first web-based database management system, as well as the award-winning "self-tuning database" idea. Leo graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a Master's degree in Operations Research from M.I.T.
