Andrew Reicher is the Non-Executive Chairman of the VGF EM Investment Committee. Andrew has 35 years of experience in international finance, 25 years of which have been in principal investing. For the past 20 years, his work has been in emerging markets, with extensive experience in energy and infrastructure. During his career he has had direct involvement in the deployment of more than $2 billion of equity and over 50 private equity investments. During almost 10 years at CDC / Actis, Andrew was Chief Investment Officer, Head of Infrastructure, and CEO of Globeleq, the holding company for the majority of Actis’ energy portfolio companies. During his tenure as CIO, CDC / Actis deployed $600 million in general private equity investments which generated 3x in realized cash. At Globeleq Andrew built portfolio of more than 3 GW of net equity power capacity, which was sold in 2007 for a $864m capital gain and 24.1% IRR. Prior to Actis, Andrew was Head of Central Europe Private Equity for Credit Suisse First Boston, which invested over $100 million across CEE markets, preceded by two years as General Director of CSFB Czechoslovakia, which played an extensive role in the Czech privatization programme. Earlier in his career, Andrew was a Partner at Botts & Company, a European private equity firm, and an investment banker with CitiGroup and Credit Suisse First Boston. As a banker, Andrew worked across Europe, primarily in the then nascent debt markets of project finance, bonds, syndicated loans, and LBO finance.
