Joao Lopes

Portfolio Manager João Eduardo Tavares de Andrade Lopes Based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, João Eduardo Tavares de Andrade Lopes holds an MBA in Finance and Real Estate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a degree in Economics from PUC-Rio. João Eduardo Tavares de Andrade Lopes is a member of professional organizations such as CORECON (Regional Economic Council) and APIMEC (Association of Capital Market Analysts and Professionals). João Lopes has nearly 20 years of experience in investment management. He was the founder and portfolio manager of Vista Capital from 2014 to 2024, during which time the company grew from R$20 million in assets under management to approximately R$6 billion at its peak in 2022. In 2021, he successfully sold a minority stake in the company to XP Inc. Prior to joining Vista Capital, João Lopes worked as an investment analyst at Leblon Equities, focusing on the infrastructure and commodities sectors. He also worked at Angra Partners, a private equity firm, developing complex financial models. While at Angra, João participated in several important mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, such as the sale of Brasil Telecom to Oi and the sale of the Rio de Janeiro Metro to Invepar. Outside of his professional responsibilities, João Lopes is a dedicated endurance athlete who has completed six Ironman 70.3 triathlons, two marathons, and several half-marathons. He is also a die-hard fan of Fluminense Football Club.
