For two decades, retired orthodontist Dr. Ivan Rodriguez Gelfenstein split his career between Venezuela and Mexico. He began seeing patients in 1991 at the Acosta Clinic in San Juan de Los Morros in his native Venezuela. He was also on staff at the governmental IPASME clinic. After studying orthodontics in Mexico from 1994 to 1996, Dr. Ivan Rodriguez Gelfenstein moved back to Venezuela, where he practiced in several facilities until 2012. Dr. Gelfenstein is an avid sports fan. As a child in Chile he participated in several school soccer teams and also played softball. Later he competed in the National Dental Games of Venezuela in indoor soccer and softball. He also follows the NBA and keeps statistics on Major League Baseball. His interest in sports also led to his meeting two sports celebrities - Panama boxer Roberto Duran and Wimbledon champion Roger Federer. Dr. Gelfenstein’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in dentistry from the Central University of Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. He then earned his orthodontics degree at the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas in Mexico, where his thesis won first place in a national competition.
