James E. Thomas III

James E. Thomas III (born October 6, 1976) is an American investor whose career has spanned nearly two decades across private equity and fund investments. In 2007, he established Thomas Trust Holdings, a family trust that became the foundation of his long-term investment strategy. During the COVID era in 2020, he expanded this structure into a single-family office, the Thomas Family Estate Company, providing a broader platform for managing and allocating capital across multiple sectors. While his focus for many years was on operating privately and out of the spotlight, his investment activity steadily grew in scope and scale. In 2025, Thomas extended his platform into venture capital, creating a set of firms designed to cover the full spectrum of early-stage investing. These include JET Ventures, a venture capital firm; JET Fund, a dedicated venture capital fund; JetDebt Finance, a venture debt platform; and JET Investments Group, an alternative multi-asset private investment holdings company.
