Aidan Hyman is a queer social entrepreneur, humanitarian/renewable energy advocate, and athlete. He was nominated as one of Attitude Magazine's most influential queer trailblazers of 2024 and is an Athlete for Equality with the Human Rights Campaign. Hyman will work in environmental affairs at the United Nations ESCAP headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand, this summer. Hyman seized the opportunity to climb K2, the second-highest peak in the world, located in Pakistan. He connected with Lucy Westlake, the youngest American woman to have climbed Everest, who became Hyman’s inspiration and guide. Aidan’s athletic background includes running marathons since the age of 15 and recently joining the UC Davis triathlon team. Hyman is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural & Environmental Technology at the University of California Davis (UC Davis). In his professional roles, Hyman is developing an investment thesis on nuclear fusion trends, and helps maintain sponsor relations for LGBT Venture Capital. Beyond his professional endeavors, Aidan’s technical acumen is evident in projects like his IMDB Web Parser Application, which scrapes data from IMDB’s website, and the AMBI Application (Angel Hacks Tesla Winner), designed to improve the use of one’s less dominant hand. His research on Sensory Information Processing in Physarum Polycephalum was published in the scholarly journal Big R, shedding light on photoreceptors’ role in determining nearby chemoattractant concentration and location. His notable achievements include being named one of 2024’s Most Influential Queer Trailblazers by Attitude Magazine UK, winning the Human Technology Competition at the Belldegrum Center for Innovation & Leadership, and receiving the Most Innovative Hack Award at the International Angel Hacks 2.0 Hackathon. Aidan also proudly holds the title of a Three-Star World-Marathoner in the Abbot World Marathon Series, having conquered marathons in Boston, New York City, and Chicago. He will compete in Ironman 70.3 Hawaii for the Ironman title this June.
