Lior Derhy is Managing Partner at NewAlpha, heading Venture Capital activities in the FinTech/InsurTech and AM fields. Lior built up his experience through nearly 50 venture operations and bigger M&A deals in the Asset Management and financial services industry, tens of exit. He has held board member positions with companies in the financial industry for over 10 years. Over the years, his experience has enabled him to become familiar with the different facets of financing entrepreneurs, making cooperation between startups and industrial and how to add value to a company both in France and internationally. He reach a particular understanding of corporate matters when it’s come to corporate development, open innovation and change management. In 2014, he joined NewAlpha where he launched the first french VC fund dedicated to european Fintechs backed by several financial services institutions and the BPI to align investment opportunity (late seed, series A/B), sector monitoring and open innovation. With his team, he has made more than 20 Fintech investments since 2016, constituting one of the main Fintech portfolio in France. He represents NewAlpha on the board of many Fintechs including Lydia Solutions, Digital Insure, Sesamm and Wikifolio (Austria). He was also a member of the steering committee of Swave, the leading French innovation platform dedicated to Fintech and Insurance. In 2012, he was part of the launch of NEXT Invest, the 1st French institutional seeding fund dedicated to AM entrepreneurs where he put in place a Private Equity approach ($Mn 150 AuM). Mr Derhy began his career in 2000 at Deloitte (Industry & Services) where he was senior auditor dealing with mid and big caps. In 2004, he became Manager of Corporate Affairs / CFO for La Française (50 people / $bn 6 AuM), and was in charge of financial monitoring and piloting strategic activities. In 2009, he became an Investment Director at La Française Group (500 people / $bn 32 AuM) and was in charge of M&A projects aiming to build strategic partnerships in the financial industry (private equity, wealth management, distribution, real estate, investment banking, Asset Management...). As a qualified chartered accountant, Mr Derhy is also the holder of Master level in international accounting and finance management (DESS).
