Luigi Amati

Luigi Amati is CEO of META and Chairman of Business Angels Europe, the Confederation of European Angel Investing (www.businessangelseurope.com) As an early stage fund manager, he is the President of META Ventures, an investment company with over 100 ml€ euro under management, of which over 60 ml€ already invested in approximately 70 knowledge intensive high growth companies (www.meta-group.com.com). He is co-founder and CEO of META Consulting, a company focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and finance; a company started as local boutique firm now working with International Institutions such as the European Commission, the World Bank, the Interamerican Development Bank etc. As an Angel Investor he is one of the founders of Italian Angels for Growth, one of the fastest growing business angels groups in Europe. He currently has a portfolio of start-ups in medtech, ict and social innovation sectors (www.italianangels.net) and is a Member of the European Commission Advisory Group on “Access to Risk Finance” and "Gender" During the early years of his career he has been a researcher and software engineer in the field of Computational Mechanics working with a spin off of Imperial College (www.lusas.com) and has contributed to the start-up of a ISRIM Research Institute of Advanced Materials. He holds an Engineering Degree Summa cum Laude from the University of Rome, a Master of Science and a Diplome from Imperial College London.
