Chris Alliegro is the executive vice president for the Invention Development Fund (IDF) at Intellectual Ventures. He has more than 20 years of experience as a scientist, engineer, and businessperson. Prior to joining Intellectual Ventures, Mr. Alliegro was vice president at research and advisory firm Directions on Microsoft, where he covered Microsoft's business applications and platform strategies, and advised clients such as SAP and Salesforce.com. He also held several positions at Microsoft including director of data center operations and engineering for Microsoft's global information technology group, director of engineering for MSN's data centers and test labs, and group program manager for the Commerce Server product development team. Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Alliegro was a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories, where he led projects in operations support systems and network design and drove implementation of AT&T local telephony services. Before joining Bell Labs, Mr. Alliegro conducted research in elementary particle physics at Yale University and Brookhaven National Lab. Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Alliegro was a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories, where he led projects in operations support systems and network design and drove implementation of AT&T local telephony services. Before joining Bell Labs, Mr. Alliegro conducted research in elementary particle physics at Yale University and Brookhaven National Lab. Mr. Alliegro holds a Ph.D. in physics from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
