James Balmain

James is the Co Founder & CEO for Zesty, a multi-award winning European digital health company backed by a group of international VC funds, including Mangrove Capital, LBO France and Qualcomm Ventures. James brings 18+ years of entrepreneurial leadership and eCommerce expertise to Zesty, leveraging his experience building & managing teams at category leading eCommerce and Mobile companies Shop Direct, Very, Littlewoods, Woolworths and EE. In 1997 James launched Light Image, a new Internet and eCommerce consultancy supplying a range of blue chip clients in retail, telecoms and media. In under 5 years Light Image grew to become a multi million pound agency delivering award winning projects to clients such as Tiscali, ntl, Telewest, BT, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse, Universal Pictures, WH Smith, ITV and Channel 4. In 2007 James launched Webtogs, a new online retailer operating in the £1Bn Outdoor market selling branded clothing, footwear, equipment and accessories from a range of top international brands. Webtogs grew from an idea to a multi million pound online retailer in under 4 years winning multiple awards such as 'Best Customer Care' by IMRG, Best Internet Retailer by Walk Magazine and Number 1 ranked online retailer for service on Trustpilot. More recently, James was Head of eCommerce at EE, the joint venture between Orange and T-Mobile, the largest UK mobile phone network with over 25M customers. EE were the first to launch superfast 4G mobile data in early 2012. James has a degree in Computer Science from Greenwich University, London and several Securities Institute qualifications in Investment Management, Exchange traded derivatives administration, Commodities and FSA Financial regulation.
