Gerry Cardinale is the Founder and Managing Partner of RedBird Capital Partners. RedBird is an investment firm focused on building high growth companies with flexible, long-term capital in partnership with entrepreneurs and families. Since its launch in 2014, RedBird has led over $3.1 billion in equity and co-investments across 20 portfolio companies in its four key industry verticals: (i) Sports, Leisure & Hospitality; (ii) Communications; (iii) Business and Financial Services; and (iv) Energy & Industrial Services. The firm’s investment mandate is predicated on a highly entrepreneurial, company-building mentality, where its capital, investor network and strategic relationships enable business owners to achieve their corporate objectives. Prior to founding RedBird, Gerry spent 20 years at Goldman Sachs where he was a Partner of the firm and a senior leader of the Merchant Bank's private equity investing business, which managed over $100 billion of private capital investments across equity, debt, real estate and infrastructure investment strategies. During his tenure, Gerry worked with entrepreneurs and family business owners to build several successful multi-billion-dollar companies, including the Yankees Entertainment & Sports ("YES") Network, the #1 Regional Sports Network in the United States; Legends Hospitality, a premium ticketing, concessions and merchandising services company which was created in partnership with the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees; and Suddenlink Communications, which was the 7th largest cable company in the United States at the time it was acquired by Altice USA. Gerry currently sits on several boards across the RedBird investment portfolio, including (i) Aethon United, one of the largest independent upstream and midstream natural gas producers in the Haynesville and Wyoming; (ii) Ampler QSR, a diversified quick-service restaurant platform; (iii) Compass Datacenters, a wholesale datacenter developer, specializing in customized build-to-order solutions for cloud, technology, enterprise, and telecom customers; (iv) OneTeam Partners, a platform company with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) and MLB Players Association (MLBPA) that helps athletes maximize the value of their name, image and likeness rights; (v) Skydance Media, the original content production company founded by the Ellison family across theatrical, subscription video on demand, animation and interactive gaming; (vi) TierPoint, a leading data center and IT infrastructure services provider focused on private and hybrid cloud solutions, managed services, and retail colocation; (vii) Yankee Global Enterprises (“YGE”), the corporate holding company of the New York Yankees and its affiliated businesses; (viii) the Yankees Entertainment & Sports (“YES”) Network, the #1 Regional Sports Network in the United States which broadcasts the live games of the New York Yankees, Brooklyn Nets and New York City Football Club; and (viii) Zenith Shipping, a portfolio of product tankers and dry bulk shipping vessels. Philanthropically, Gerry is a Trustee of the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City and leads one of the multi-state Selection Committees that awards Rhodes Scholarships each year. Gerry received an Honors BA from Harvard University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and an M.Phil in Politics and Political Theory from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
