When Michael Chen joined True Partners Consulting in 2006, the San Jose office was a newly- formed work in progress, with a limited staff but big aspirations. Today, under Mr. Chen’s leadership, the thriving practice has quintupled in size, with 25 tax professionals he and business partners Louis Gomes, Seung Yoo, and John Boseman have selectively recruited, developed, and trained. Most of the clients are middle-market, publicly-traded Silicon Valley firms. Several Fortune 50 firms are also represented. Mr. Chen is a federal tax generalist with an emphasis on international tax. He has built a culture of responsiveness to clients, solid technical advice, and thorough solutions that leave no stone unturned. Quickly and proactively, he and his team show clients their options, develop a plan, and help implement it. Mr. Chen along with his business partners in the San Jose office leads technical training and seminars for tax and accounting professionals for the past 7 years. Attendance grows every year, because he and his team turn complex issues into simple and understandable concepts. Topics include accounting for income taxes, accounting for business combinations, accounting for stock based compensation, international taxation, mergers & acquisitions, and much more. Mr. Chen’s experience includes consulting on ASC 740 – accounting for income taxes including business combinations, domestic and cross border mergers & acquisitions, international tax, foreign tax credit and cash repatriation planning, and U.S. federal tax accounting methods. Mr. Chen served on the True Partners board. Before joining the firm, Mr. Chen held leadership positions at the Big Four and other consulting firms. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of San Francisco.
