Plexxi technology advisor Rick Barry has served at the very core of innovation in optical communication and networking, where he has worked in industry, research, and academia. Rick was the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Sycamore Networks where he focused on product architecture, development, and technology as well customer development, product strategy, and intellectual property. Prior to Sycamore, he was a member of the technical staff in the Advanced Networks Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory where he focused on network architecture and performance of all-optical and electro-optical ground and spaced based networks. Rick has served as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at The George Washington University. Rick received his PhD ’93, MS ’89, and BS ‘89 in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds many patents in the area of optical communications, networking, protection, switching, architecture and coding and is the author of over 45 technical publications.
