Markus Fromherz is a business owner, inventor, angel investor, and mentor. Markus has almost twenty years of corporate R&D expertise, over ten years of angel investment experience, and many years of mentoring new entrepreneurs. He is a trained computer scientist with a solid expertise in artificial intelligence, embedded systems, and healthcare. He is constantly open to new ideas, some of which he is exploring in his own business firm, which he launched in 2015. Markus Fromherz was Xerox's Chief Innovation Officer, Healthcare, until 2014. He was in charge of disruptive innovation in Xerox's payer, provider, and government healthcare sectors. Markus was formerly a Vice President of the Palo Alto Research Center, where he managed the Intelligent Systems Laboratory, which creates sophisticated information and automation systems based on intelligent user interfaces, language and picture interpretation, and reasoning algorithms. Business software, embedded systems, and cleantech applications are all examples of applications. Markus was previously a Principal Engineer at PARC, where he directed and contributed to various R&D and technology transfer activities in intelligent control systems for Xerox products, including the award-winning flagship iGen3TM digital production printing system. Markus' research interests included constraint-based modeling, model-based planning, scheduling, and control, and model-based design analysis and optimization in the domain of intelligent embedded software. He has over 40 granted and pending patents and has published widely and lectured worldwide. Markus began working at PARC in 1992. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Zurich in Switzerland, as well as an M.S. ETH Zurich offers a bachelor's degree in computer science.
