Michael Calvey

Michael “Mike” Calvey is the Founder and Chairman of Baring Ventures, a private equity group with more than $5 billion in assets under management. Funds advised by Baring Ventures hold long-term stakes in Kaspi, Revolut, Blablacar, and Plata. From 1994 to 2022 Calvey founded and co-led Baring Vostok, a leading equity firm managing investment portfolios across many industry sectors, with a significant focus on investments in innovative companies. Prior to that, Calvey worked in London for the EBRD and in New York at Salomon Brothers Inc, principally on investment projects in the natural resources sectors. Michael Calvey holds a MS degree in Finance from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Business (Computer Science concentration) from the University of Oklahoma in 1989.
