Irwin Lieber is the chairman of GeoCapital. Irwin is a General Partner and is a recognized pioneer in investment in small capitalization companies who brings an exceptional record of over forty years of private and public investment experience to Buckland. In 1979, he founded GeoCapital, an investment management company focused on small capitalization companies across a variety of sectors. As GeoCapital’s Chairman and Chief Investment Officer since its inception, Irwin has compiled a distinctive long term track record of investment out-performance. Irwin has also been a General Partner and co-founder of Wheatley Partners, a New York-based venture capital firm since 1992. Prior to co-founding Wheatley, he was a founding General Partner of GeoCapital Partners, a venture capital firm investing in Information Services and Software companies. Irwin also was a General Partner of 21st Century Partners, a private equity partnership invested in companies at the intersection of media and technology. From 1970 to 1979 he was senior analyst, portfolio manager and later General Partner of First Manhattan Company. Irwin currently serves on the Boards of WhittmanHart, Tri-Ed and FalconStor. For many years, he was an investor and Director of Cheyenne Software and Scansource and he was a founding investor/advisor to FalconStor Software. He also was an early investor in StorageTek. Irwin is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University.
