I have been told I have a colorful career with experiences spanning across 8 industries and 5 countries over the last 17 years. I have played myriad of roles from PMO for one of the most exciting tech company in Silicon Valley to conventional corporate role to management consultancy career which involved many airline miles and new cities. My most notable experience was building the GrabCar business in Malaysia. When I took over this business, it was an infant business vertical. I managed to turn the ride hailing business around in < 2 years to one of the fastest growing business vertical for Grab despite the complex competitive and regulatory challenges present. Over the last few years, I have been focusing on working with/mentoring/investing in early stage Startups in Malaysia/Singapore/US. These are Startups in Seed to Series A2 stage in AI, SaaS, Healthtech, Cleantech, Marketplaces, IoT, FIntech and Edtech; investing precious resources of time and funds in them. The common themes and colourful journey from my career has provided the needed value added experience when it comes to mentoring & investing in Startups. I can be at ease in getting my hands dirty when needed, something that is crucial for early stage companies. And, I have a knack in bringing people and different aspects of the business together. I select opportunities based on the experience it offers, and people that I work with based on the values they present. I once skydived to conquer my fear of heights.
