Dan Gillett is an experienced investment banker and manager. His background includes executive management in restructuring situations in addition to a career in investment banking, including raising capital to fund reorganization plans. Over a 13-year career in investment banking he advised companies in such diverse industries as energy, paper, telecommunications services and equipment, electronics distribution, defense, media, information technology, software, retail and consumer products, travel and restaurants. Mr. Gillett began his career in 1984 at Price Waterhouse where he was a certified public accountant in the firm’s audit practice. In 1986 he joined PepsiCo, Inc. as a senior auditor, focusing primarily on operational audits in the Pepsi-Cola and Pizza Hut divisions. After attending business school, Mr. Gillett joined The First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse First Boston) as an investment banker in Corporate Finance. During six-years at First Boston, Mr. Gillett achieved the position of Vice President and completed 32 transactions totaling approximately $5 billion. In 1995, Mr. Gillett co-founded MG Capital (a predecessor of Blackhill Partners) and began offering financial advisory and investment banking services to telecommunications and technology companies. Assignments have included general financial advisory work, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, re-capitalization of troubled companies and early stage capital raising. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Gillett served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of BroadbandNOW, a client and provider of high-speed data services to apartment communities throughout the United States. During that period Mr. Gillett oversaw the raising of $92 million in equity capital from strategic partners, including Microsoft, Liberty Media, Nortel Networks, Lucent Technologies and GE Capital. As a result of difficult capital markets for telecommunication companies, Mr. Gillett was responsible for designing and executing a restructuring plan for the company that included disposing of assets and reducing headcount by 80%. Mr. Gillett is a CPA, holds a M.B.A. degree from Harvard University and a B.B.A. degree in Accounting from Harding University.
