Martín Escobari is Head of Global Growth Equity, Co-President, and Managing Director. Martín is Chairman of the firm’s Investment Committee and also serves on the Portfolio and Executive Committees. Before joining General Atlantic in 2012, Martín was a Managing Director at Advent International where he focused on the financial services sector. Prior to that, he was Co-Founder and CFO of Submarino.com, a leading Brazilian online retailer that went public on the Bovespa and was sold to Lojas Americanas in 2006. Martin started his career as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group. Martín serves on the board of directors of several GA portfolio companies including Arco, dLocal, Grupo Axo, and XP Investimentos. He also served on the boards of prior GA investments including Pague Menos, Smiles, Sura Asset Management, and Sanfer. Martín graduated with high honors with a B.S. in Economics from Harvard College and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, graduating as a Baker Scholar. He serves on the board of Primeira Chance, a scholarship program for gifted children in Brazil, and is active with Endeavor Brazil, where he mentors young entrepreneurs. Martín is also a member of the Advisory Group for the Brazil office of Harvard´s Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies and a board member of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
