David Pierson

David joined Syngenta Ventures in 2012. Prior to this he was a General Partner for seven years at Intersouth Partners, an independent venture capital firm in Durham, NC, which has invested in more than 100 private companies with $800 million under management. While at Intersouth, David focused on making venture capital investments in early stage pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, agbiotech and healthcare information technology companies. Prior to entering the venture capital business, David worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 14 years where he held numerous senior positions in pharmaceutical marketing, sales, and new product commercialization at Johnson & Johnson and Pharmacia Corporation. David has extensive international business experience, having been responsible for business portfolios at the US, Europe and Latin American regional level. He has extensive experience with licensing, mergers and acquisitions.
