Jan Newman

Jan Newman is the VP of Business Development at Vivint Solar, the second leading residential solar integrator in the United States. In this position, Jan is responsible for the expansion of business partnerships and channels and for overseeing the company’s growth into new solar verticals. As a technology entrepreneur with over 25 years of executive experience in the industry, Jan has a keen eye for technologies and teams that have the potential for greatness. Jan has held executive level positions with multi-billion dollar companies as well as small start-up ventures. Prior to Vivint, he was a partner at SageCreek Partners, a business consulting firm focused on helping earlier stage companies grow revenues, develop partnerships, and secure funding. Jan also founded two different companies: KeyLabs, Inc. and Altris, Inc. KeyLabs was an independent software testing and verification company that he sold to Exodus Communications for $42 million. And Altiris was a systems management company that took advantage of a revolutionary software delivery technology developed at KeyLabs. Altiris went on to complete a public offering in 2002 and was eventually purchased by Symantec Corporation for more than $1 billion. Before founding his own companies, Jan started his career as a software engineer with Novell. He was instrumental in building the software testing methodology for the company and went on to be promoted to Executive Vice President of the NetWare Systems group responsible for product development and marketing of the $1 billion business unit.Newman holds a BA in French with a minor in computer science from Brigham Young University.
