Beth Ellyn McClendon is an American technology investor and product designer. She was an early investor in Noom, Angellist, Lelex Prime and TripleBlind. She has patents related to Google Earth navigation and YouTube advertising, audience and content targeting. She worked on Netscape Communicator at Netscape Communications Corporation, designing new features for Mail/News and Composer. In 1998, she joined Cisco Systems Corporation and spent 8 years as a tech lead working on early wireless access points and wireless network management tools. She was hired by Google to work on a WiMAX network for Mountain View, CA, and was transferred to develop a user experience team focused on geographic and location-based tools that came to include Google Earth, Google Maps, Street View and Sketchup. After its acquisition, she worked on monetization and personalization tools for YouTube, including the transition of YouTube user accounts to Google’s Single-Sign-On infrastructure. In 2009, she joined Android as a product manager for the Nexus One release, and was responsible for forward logistics, e-commerce, carrier services integration and device provisioning. She is the founder of Free State Forge, where she advises and invests in seed stage tech startups.
