Dr. Galitsky is a scientist, five-times founder, an internationally well-known entrepreneur, and a venture capitalist with a proven track record and executive operational experience in the US and Europe. Alexander Galitsky is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Almaz Capital, an international venture fund with major offices in Portola Valley, CA (USA) and Berlin (Germany), and representative offices in Central and Eastern European countries. Established in 2008, Almaz Capital is a global VC fund investing in early stage, capital efficient technology companies in high-growth sectors. The fund's investors include European Investment Fund (EIF), Cisco, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Sasha was key to launching Almaz I, II and III. Almaz Capital Fund was created on the initiative of Cisco. Mr. Galitsky was chosen by Cisco to become fund’s Co-founder and Managing Partner. As Managing Partner of Almaz Capital, Alexander builds the fund’s strategy and sets its vision. Among the most famous deals of Almaz Capital are Yandex (IPO NASDAQ), QIK (sold to Skype), Sensity Systems (sold to Verizon Communications), Acumatica (sold to EQT), Xometry (IPO NASDAQ) and others. Alexander was the President of the South East Europe Tech Tour which took place in Bucharest (Romania) and Sofia (Bulgaria) in May 2019, as well as the President of the 2018 East Europe Tech Tour, which was organized in Warsaw (Poland) and Sofia (Bulgaria). Previously, Alexander was appointed as a President of the first Russian Tech Tour (international VC conference) which was held in 2004. He won the world-known EY Entrepreneur Award (a unique global program that recognizes entrepreneurial achievement among individuals and companies that demonstrate vision, leadership and success) and became Entrepreneur of the Year in Russia in 2013. Beside that Sasha was honored as the best GP of 2013 by Venture Awards, nominated for the best venture capitalist of the last decade in Europe in 2012 by Investor AllStars and named "Technology Pioneer" at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2000. Alexander has been a featured speaker at international conferences, including Interop, the World Economic Forum, RSA, Catalyst, LaWeb, StartUp weekend, TechCrunch, High-Tech Forum, Podim, Latitude, SuperReturn, Wolves Summit, ETRE, InfoShare, DLD, DigitalK, NOAH, Lviv Arena, SeedStars, SLUSH, Webit and others and has been profiled in various publications including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, BusinessWeek, Financial Times, Harvard Business review and the New York Times. For the last years, Sasha has served as a member of the Board of Directors at the following international companies: Acumatica, Acronis, Ezwim, Jelastic, PetCube, PGP Inc, Parallels, StarWind, Virtuozzo. Besides that, he is still an Institute Advisor in B612 Foundation since 2014. Prior to Almaz Capital, back in 2003, Dr. Galitsky established AV Galitsky Holdings based in the Netherlands and became an active VC investor. He made a series of successful private investments. His past and current investments include NavMaps (sold to TeleAtlas), Start Telecom, Magnifire, SJLabs, PGP, Parallels, Acronis, EverNote among others. Alexander founded five successful high-tech companies, ELVIS+, TrustWorks Systems (sold to Hansard), EzWIM (sold to TMT Ventures), ELVIS Telecom (sold to Telenor) and NPC ELVIS, all of which he led as CEO. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Galitsky served as one of the top Technical executives for the Soviet Space Agency. Galitsky pioneered in Wi-Fi and Virtual Private Network technologies, as well as product development on the global market in partnership with Sun Microsystems. He has over 30 patents for numerous inventions. Alexander is Ph.D. in Computer Science and holds a Master's degree in physics.
