Luvvie Ajayi is a social media and web strategist, becoming a consultant after years of doing fulltime social media work for nonprofit organizations. She's also a longtime blogger, who’s been blogging for 8 years, 5 of which are at her humor blog, AwesomelyLuvvie.com. It is also winner of the 2009 Black Weblog Awards for “Best Humor Blog.†She's a graduate of The University of Illinois, with a B.S. in Psychology, but her professional background is in Marketing, Communications and New Media. She's presented at several conferences over the years on these topics. The conferences include the Chicago Social Media Summit, the Nonprofit Technology Conference, NeighborWorks Symposium, Tutor-Mentor Conference, BlogHer, Blogging While Brown, and Blogalicious. Along with Karyn Watkins of The Fab Giver, she founded The Red Pump Project in 2009. Red Pump is a national nonprofit organization that raises awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls. Their work has earned them a Congressional Record from the U.S. House of Representatives as well as recognition from the City of Chicago Council, as well as press in several media outlets. Luvvie is on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Women’s AIDS Project, on the Blogger Advisory Board of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatrics AIDS Foundation, and serves as the technology chair for the Chicago chapter of the New Leader’s Council.
