Richard A. Kimball, Jr. currently is the founder and CEO of HEXL, Inc. where he heads the corporate strategy and development of a dynamic and revolutionary healthcare technology business. HEXL is creating population health programs focused on keeping the chronically ill stable, at home and out of the hospital. Furthermore, HEXL focuses on and designs beneficial programs for telehealth, virtual health, home health care, preventative care, chronic disease management. HEXL technology improves patient outcomes and deliver various benefits, most notably, lower costs to consumers. Prior to HEXL, Richard hired by Accretive Health where he was the Chief Strategy and Growth Officer. Richard was responsible for strategy, business development, sales, marketing, product management and population health. In this role, Richard led the development of a transformation strategy to evolve the company’s innovative revenue cycle management business by facilitating deeper patient engagement by hospitals and building the foundation for population health programs. A longtime Investment Banker, Richard Kimball represented The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. as a Managing Director of Equity Capital Markets since 2005. A former executive with Morgan Stanley, Richard Kimball led the Equity Capital Markets department and the Healthcare Services Investment Banking division there. During his combined 17 years with Morgan Stanley, he managed the firm’s efforts in completing Renal Care Group’s $4 billion sale to Fresenius Medical Care, the largest dialysis service provider in the world, as well as executed more than $3.1 billion of initial public offerings from health care firms. A Yale University graduate, Richard Kimball earned a B.A. in Economics in 1986, upon completion of his studies in international finance, mechanical engineering, and computer science. At a time when international markets were in great transition, Richard Kimball completed a senior essay on the Japanese bond futures market. Morgan Stanley hired him as an Analyst in corporate finance and he worked overseas in Hong Kong and Tokyo for two years. During his first year after leaving Yale, Richard Kimball contributed to a sale of $400 million in convertible bonds, a transaction which won International Financing Review’s Deal of the Year award. With a focus on early-stage companies, Richard Kimball co-founded and became a Managing Partner of Millennium Technology Ventures in 2000. With more than $160 million in venture capital, Richard Kimball built portfolio companies, including 2Scoot and Mixed Signals, aiding the latter with key financial restructuring. Currently a Trustee for The Brookings Institution, Richard Kimball shares the responsibility of maintaining the organization’s excellence and independence through its scholarly investigations. Richard has built a solid network throughout the healthcare business enabling him to succeed on high levels. As a trustee of the Brookings Institution, Richard specializes in health care public policy and is a member of the Audit Committee and the Metropolitan Studies Leadership Council. In addition, he was on the board of the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention in Harlem, New York (local health care distribution), a single member corporation of Memorial Sloane Kettering. Richard is also a member of YPO, Young Presidents Organization.
