Ed Mlavsky founded Gemini Israel Ventures in 1993 and is widely recognized as one of the founding fathers of Israeli high-tech and venture capital. A longtime innovator and advocate for venture capital, he was chosen to manage the first venture capital fund to emerge from the Israeli government's Yozma program. Prior to founding Gemini, Ed served as Executive Director of the Israel-US Bi-national Industrial Research & Development Foundation (BIRD) where he was responsible for investments of $100 million in more than 300 joint projects between US and Israeli high-tech companies. Before that, Ed was Executive Vice President of Mobil Tyco Solar Energy Corporation. Until 1974, Ed held a number of positions at Tyco, a company he co-founded, including board member, Chief Technical Officer, President and Chief Operating Officer. Today, Tyco International (NYSE: TYCO) has a market capitalization of $24B.
