Javier has more than 16 years of transaction experience with leading global firms like Lehman Brothers (1994-2000) and, more recently, UBS (2001-2009). In UBS he was Head of Corporate Advisory, where he was solely focused in advising entrepreneurs and family-owned companies in corporate finance transactions. His responsibilities in Netjuice included fundraising activity, M&A and business development for both at a holding level and for portfolio companies. More recently, Javier has spend one year in San Diego, CA, both at a Global Leadership Program at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and understanding the dynamics of the US VC industry. Javier is a special LP of Social Leverage LLC, a San Diego-based partnership that invests in early stage internet businesses. Social Leverage currently holds a portfolio of 20+ companies, including Tweetdeck, Stocktwits (recently named “one of the top 10 most innovative companies in web”), Buddy Media, Ticketfly, Bit.ly, Foodzie and eToro. In addition, Javier has been an active Angel Investor, including companies like Idealista, Mundivox, Pulsar Technologies, Netjuice and Social Leverage. Javier received an MBA from INSEAD and holds an E-3 degree in Law and Business Administration from ICADE. Javier and Aquilino were classmates at ICADE and close friends since.
