Frank VanderSloot founded consumer packaged goods company Melaleuca: The Wellness Company in 1985. Melaleuca manufactures and distributes more than 400 household products, including supplements, snacks, laundry products, home cleaning products, personal care items, essential oils, baby care products, and cosmetics. VanderSloot served as the company's CEO for 37 years and began overseeing the company as Executive Chairman of the Board in 2022. VanderSloot also founded Riverbend Ranch in 1992 and owns one of the largest Black Angus cattle herds in the United States. Through carefully selected individual purchases of cows and bulls, VanderSloot has curated a herd of over 62,000 head. Riverbend Ranch has cattle herds in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Texas. VanderSloot was named an Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young. In 2015, he received the Horatio Alger Award. He is also a recipient of the US Chamber of Commerce’s Blue Chip Award. VanderSloot was inducted into the Idaho Technology Council’s Hall of Fame and named as one Idaho’s most influential citizens. He was given the Icon Award by Idaho Business Review. After the September 11 terrorist attacks, VanderSloot founded the Melaleuca Foundation, which serves as Melaleuca's charitable arm. The foundation has donated millions of dollars and thousands of pounds of food and supplies to help victims of natural disasters and nonprofits. The foundation is also the sole financial supporter of Santa Lucia Children's Home, an orphanage in Quito, Ecuador.
