Raphael Auphan is CEO of Qwant Raphael Auphan is . Raphael was previously COO/President and Co-Founder of VC-backed Cosmian and the CEO of Scilab (acquired by Euronext-listed ESI Group) and previously founder and CEO of Zyken (acquired by Withings/Nokia). Raphael is a seasoned entrepreneur and executive at high-technologies companies. He begins his career in the Singapore subsidiary of a large European technology group (Thales) where he takes part in a major project for the Singapore subway system. He then pursues his career with worldwide smart card leader Gemplus (NASDAQ: GEMP / now merged into Gemalto — Euronext: GTO), where he starts its Malaysian subsidiary in Kuala Lumpur. He then moves to the US to join the founding of ViaFone, a start-up with 35M$ funding specialized in mobile enterprise software; he becomes VP, North American Operations and significantly contributes to its growth; when ViaFone is acquired by Nasdaq-listed Extended Systems (acquired by Sybase, itself acquired by SAP), Raphael Auphan becomes VP, Europe and Middle-East in charge of 50% of worldwide revenues. He later decides to start "Project Sleep" which will become Zyken, an innovative company focused on applying the power of technology and design in everyday products for wellness and better sleep.
