John Phelan

With a string of successful start ups behind him, both here and abroad, John has substantial personal and professional experience starting and developing businesses. In his role as Dublin BIC consultant, John advises emerging companies on business planning and modelling, strategy development, preparation for investment, access to finance and successful execution. John is widely recognised for his specialism in the creative industries, including media technology, new media, games and animation, as well as software and ICT sectors. At Dublin BIC, John has been very involved with clients such as Storyful, Betapond, Benetel and Brown Bag Films. On behalf of Dublin BIC John manages the Halo Business Angels Partnership and has overseen the investment of €40 million in over 100 companies. He is a board member of FilmBase, The Irish Film Resource Centre and he sits on the committee of the David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
