Alexander Renz is passionate about emerging technologies and how they enable business model innovation and new customer experiences. Alex helps customers understand the impact of innovative technologies (Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics, Wearables, Cloud Computing) on business models and how they transform industries and reshape value networks. Before joining Clareo, Alex informed strategic investment decisions at companies such as Bosch, SAP, Microsoft and Infor. He collaborated with corporate venture teams to assess emerging markets and perform due diligence on acquisition targets. At both SAP and Microsoft he initiated and lead the development of new businesses around Internet of Things (IoT) and next generation optimization technologies. He initiated SAP’s involvement in the MIT Auto-ID Center and SAP’s work with complexity scientist Stuart Kaufman from the Santa Fe institute to model complex, adaptive systems using simple rules. Alex developed SAP’s vision of “Real-World Aware Adaptive Supply Chain Networks” based on his work with Procter & Gamble on the Consumer Driven Supply Network. At Infor, he analyzed the implications of the Industrial Internet and 3D Printing on design, engineering, manufacturing, asset management, supply chain and service operations. He is also a mentor and advisor to technology start-ups and involved in the Microsoft Accelerator for Smart Home Automation. As a native German who has lived and worked in 6 countries across 3 continents, Alex brings a truly international perspective. He holds a B.A. Hons degree in European Business Studies from Brunel University. Alex’s work for Clareo is focused on the future of energy, its transformative impact on business models, and emerging IT requirements.
