Chris Schroeder

Christopher M. Schroeder is a Washington D.C. and New York City based internet entrepreneur and venture investor. He was formerly co‐founder and CEO of HealthCentral, one of the largest social and content platforms in health and wellness in the US, sold in January 2012. Previously he was CEO of washingonpost.newsweek interactive, and ceo of LegiSlate.com. Schroeder has been an active supporter of, writer and speaker on start‐ups in the United States and emerging growth markets ‐‐ with particular focus on the Middle East. He advises and invests a series of US internet start‐ups and venture capital funds, and sits on the board of advisors of The American University of Cairo School of Business, the Jordanian incubator Oasis500 and Middle East online entrepreneur network Wamda. He is writing a book on start‐ups in the Arab World: “StartUp Rising ‐‐ The Entrepreneurial Revolution That’s Remaking the Middle East” ‐‐ published by MacMillan/Palgrave in August 2013.
