Sharone Perlstein

Sharone Perlstein has over 25 years experience as an entrepreneur and start-up founder of modern day problem solving companies. He is the co-founder of an online lending platform which is licensed by leading, global banks. . Education In 1993, Perlstein graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign with a Bachelor of Arts. Post graduation he moved to New York and worked in fashion industry in New York City's famous Fashion District. A chance encounter led him to Wall Street where he trained and later worked as a trader for the Firm's clients. He quickly succeeded in the industry and in 1997 opened his own business, Orly Capital Inc. in New York City. Perlstein provided corporate finance advisory for companies looking to raise money, those on the public markets and those looking to list on the public markets. Perlstein succeeded in facilitating listings on the European and US stock exchanges for the company’s portfolios. He remained with Orly Capital from 1997 until 2004. Real Estate Development and Management Sharone Perlstein’s entry into real estate development began in 2006, when he co-founded Canadel Group with his partner, Robert Rubinstein from H&R REIT (TSX: HR.UN) one of Canada's largest real estate investment trusts. Canadel was a real estate development company engaged in residential projects located primarily throughout Eastern Europe, including Moldova, Latvia and Ukraine. Canadel was involved in developing and financing real estate projects and Perlstein served as Director from 2006 until 2008. During his tenure, Perlstein was successful in recruiting the high-profile AIG Global Real Estate to join the company as a co-investment partner. Agriculture and Natural Resource Development In 2008, Sharone Perlstein expanded his focus to development and management of agricultural lands by founding BSD Ukraine Agro Ltd. which managed 10,000 hectare of agricultural land in Ukraine. BSD Ukraine was the main agricultural investment arm of BrookBank, a private investment company focused on identifying and investing in emerging initiatives. Perlstein was the a partner of BrookBank Enterprises from 2004 until 2011. His tenure at BSD Ukraine lasted until 2010, during which time he served as Director, with Erez Meltzer who was previoulsy the CEO of Netafim, an Israeli company that invented drip irrigation. Netafim was sold to Mexichem of Mexico (BMV: ORBIA) and now known as Orbia Advance Corporation S.A.B. de CV. The Company focuses on insuring food security, reducing water scarcity and more. In 2010, Perlstein joined David Plattner to launch the Rainforest Trust, thus beginning his foray into natural resource management and preservation. The primary objective of the Rainforest Trust was to to assist governments in the task of protect the planets fragile rainforests. An example is the conservation agreement made reached between Perlstein, the Rainforest Trust and and a large landowner in Manaus, Brazil to preserve 800,000 hectares of imperiled rainforest. Other conservation agreements were entered into with the governments of Cambodia, Mexico and Indonesia. Perlstein became involved in the biofuels industry as an early investor and advisor (2010) of Waterland International, the owner of a biofuel plantation in Indonesia. The project consisted of 60,000 hectares of Jatropha trees that were producing oil for Dutch market. Waterland International was also experimenting with the viability of using Jatropha tree oil for jet fuel. The company worked with both Airbus and Boeing on feasibility studies. Personal Sharone Perlstein is a lover of modern art and makes an effort to carve out personal time to visit art shows. He is a avid abstract painter and his paintings are over-sized and add color to any room in the house.
