Katie is the founder and CEO of Haun Ventures, a Silicon Valley venture fund that manages billions in investments across frontier technologies including blockchain and digital assets. The firm’s institutional investors are major sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, financial institutions, and other global organizations. She has served as a board member of several high-growth technology companies. As Coinbase’s first independent director, she was an early architect of company’s global regulatory strategy, serving through its direct listing and subsequent growth as a publicly traded company. During her tenure from 2017 to 2024, she held several positions including Chair of the Nomination and Governance Committee, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, and member of the Compensation Committee. Katie joined Andreessen Horowitz as a General Partner in 2018. There, she co-led their crypto franchise, building a team and investing out of three successive funds with billions under management, generating significant realized returns for institutional investors. Before her venture career, Katie spent over a decade as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice. She secured successful jury verdicts in every case she tried and led high-profile prosecutions related to the Silk Road task force, the 2012 Hells Angels murder trial, and the Nuestra Familia prison gang RICO takedown. She also led cyber, corporate, and violent crime investigations in partnership with the FBI, Homeland Security, SEC, and Treasury. At DOJ headquarters, she held senior leadership positions in the National Security Division and later the Attorney General’s office where her portfolio covered antitrust, tax, and national security matters. Katie represented DOJ on both CFIUS and the FBI’s Undercover Review Committee, that approved significant undercover operations. Katie has been profiled by Bloomberg, Fortune, The New York Times, and CNBC and was named one of Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s 50 Most Influential in 2022.
