Joel Lavine

Dr. Joel Lavine is an accomplished physician and educator. He has dedicated himself to the development of others, both in his professional and academic careers. For the last eight years, Dr. Lavine worked as a Vice Chairman for Faculty and Fellow Development at UCSD. There, he developed a comprehensive curriculum for the fellows in the Department of Pediatrics which included mentoring, manuscript preparation, networking, medical economics, communication, speaker presentations, research development, and more. He also facilitated a mentor/mentoree program which further aided junior staff. In addition to his work at UCSD, Dr. Lavine has also been a teacher and mentor for many years. For eight years he taught pathophysiology for liver disease to first-year medical students at UCSD. And over the course of his career he has supervised or co-supervised over 100 manuscripts and abstracts submitted for presentation at national meetings
