Derek Ferguson joined VPC in 2012 and is a Vice President. He is primarily responsible for sourcing, analyzing, executing and management of direct private debt and equity investments lower middle market companies in the Industrials, Energy and Natural Resources and Healthcare sectors. Mr. Ferguson also actively works on value creation initiatives and strategic alternatives for VPC’s investments. Mr. Ferguson serves as a member of the Board of Directors of VPC portfolio company Enteris Biopharma, Inc. Previously, Mr. Ferguson was a Vice President with Maxim Partners, a private equity firm that concentrates on entrepreneurial companies in the lower middle market. He also held positions at private equity firms Wynnchurch Capital and Thoma Cressey Equity Partners, and in the M&A Investment Banking division of J.P. Morgan Securities. Mr. Ferguson received a B.S. in finance with high honors from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. with a concentration in entrepreneurship and innovation from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is a director of the Chicago Children’s Choir, which advocates the advancement and delivery of choral music education and artistic excellence throughout low-income schools and neighborhoods of Chicago.
