Tony Wainaina was formerly the first Chief Executive Officer of TransCentury Limited, a Pan-African Investment Company based in Nairobi, Kenya. In addition to developing a management team, and establishing the operations and systems of the investment company from inception, Tony led in the structuring, negotiation and acquisition of several private equity investments in East, Central and South Africa. Prior to this he was the Chief Executive Officer of ICDC Investment Co. Ltd, now Centum, where he led the privatisation of the company's management structure after 32 years of management by the parent state corporation. Tony built the management team and established the operations and systems of the Investment company from inception. At ICDCI his mandate included the overall management of an equity portfolio of over 40 companies, the origination and execution of Private Equity Investments and representing ICDCI on the boards of several portfolio companies. He was previously a management consultant at PwC in the economics division and Vice-President Regional Corporate Finance at Citibank Kenya. He holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Georgetown University and a BSc in Agricultural Economics from Wye College (now merged with Imperial College), University of London. Tony is also the Chairman of Origins IGA, an advisory firm that incubates and provides customised Advisory and Management Services to investment groups in East Africa.
