Pearl Lam is patron and entrepreneur and is one of the most instantly recognisable gallerists in the world. She is a leading authority on Asian art and the global contemporary art market with a network spanning the world. The biggest contemporary art collectors in the world follow Pearl’s endorsement and patronage of contemporary artists very closely indeed. Jan Dalley at The Financial Times calls Pearl “a powerhouse of the contemporary art world”. Ted Loos at The New York Times calls her "a tour de force of the art world”. Forbes names Pearl Lam as “one of Asia’s most powerful women”. And Prestige magazine names Pearl Lam as “one of the most powerful women in Hong Kong”. Pearl Lam has played a key role in elevating Chinese contemporary art and artists into the international market; and she has been responsible for turning Western contemporary art and artists into ‘rockstars’ in the huge Chinese and Asian markets. British artists including Mr Doodle, Philip Colbert and Maggi Hambling have become huge Asia by working with Pearl. For over 20 years Pearl Lam has also been at the forefront of reimagining China’s cultural place in the world. She has a longstanding commitment to promoting exchange between East Asia and the world and bridging better cultural understanding through art. In 2008 she founded the China Art Foundation to promote better cultural exchange worldwide. Founded in 2005, her eponymous Pearl Lam Galleries is a driving force within Asia’s contemporary art scene, with spaces in Hong Kong and Shanghai. The gallery is globally recognised for its intellectual ambition which re-evaluates perceptions of contemporary art and cultural practice in China. Pearl Lam is increasingly sharing her experiences as a female entrepreneur so that the next generation of young people can synthesise new ideas and approaches to forging their own path in life. She is now sharing the lessons of her experiences as a Forbes Business Council member and as host of The Pearl Lam Podcast.
