Apeira Capital is founded and lead by Natalie Hwang, who has been named to the Power List 100 by Global Corporate Venturing for three consecutive years (2017-2019) for her work in launching a unique venture strategy that leverages her blend of experience across distribution technology, private markets investing and hedge fund arbitrage. Prior to Apeira Capital, she founded and managed all aspects of investments as sole Managing Partner of Simon Ventures. In addition to contributing her strategic support as a participant on the Board of such companies as Foursquare and FabFitFun, she has also supported a number of other noteworthy companies that have achieved meaningful scale such as Bird, Bustle Digital Group, Grailed, Verishop, MeUndies and Brud to name a few. Prior to her career in venture capital, Ms. Hwang spent nearly seven years at The Blackstone Group where she gained highly focused experience in scaling disruptive hedge fund startups. As one of a select few female executives to lead a fund with a broad background of experience that spans the continuum of private to public markets investing, she brings a differentiated perspective to scaling growth stage startups. She has been featured as an industry expert across a wide range of media including Bloomberg, WSJ, Fast Company, WWD and Glossy and is known for contributing thought leadership to a wide variety of topics, in particular on the evolving role of real estate developers, real estate tech, retail innovation, media distribution and venture capital investing. She began her career supporting large scale private equity M&A transactions at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. Ms. Hwang received her B.A. from Duke University and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
