Alex is an early stage technology investor and portfolio manager at an Abu Dhabi based family office. He is a former Director at ABH, top-5 private sector conglomerate in MENA based in Riyadh, KSA. Prior to joining ABH, Alex was Associate Director at private equity arm of #2 largest bank in CEE with >$4bn of capital majorly comprised of co-investments by global alternative asset managers (TPG, GS SSG and Macquarie), IFIs (EBRD and IFC) and SWFs (Asian and GCC) in leading retail, TMT, QSR and agri sector players in CEE, where Alex served as a board member. Before, he was Associate at QInvest, an indirect subsidiary of QIA and top-3 Islamic financial institution globally with >$2bn of managed assets, responsible for principal investments. Alex initiated his career as investment banker at Goldman Sachs and BofA Securities focusing on TMT sector. Alex also led venture funding in a number of startups, including pre-series B round in SberMarket (#1 e-grocer in CEE currently valued at >$2bn), and secondary buyouts of growth companies, including Dodo Brands (top-5 fastest-growing global franchisor of two QSR brands operating >1.2k units in 24 countries) by leveraging GCC-based co-investors. Additionally, Alex provided strategic and financial advice to Droice Labs, NYC based AI-data builder for clinicians, life-science and insurance companies. Alex is brain cancer survivor focused on impact-based neurotech in parallel with advisory and investments in early stage (angel, pre-seed, series A) entities within human needs (edtech, e-grocery and QSR) and fundamental (cyber security and data protection) sectors of economy.
