Umair is a serial entrepreneur with a 'value creation' mind-set. He invests in idea-stage technology startups and helps founders build and scale their technology. Umair has helped companies such as Staples, Advance Auto Parts, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Stericycle, Foxtons, Weir, Emaar, GNC, Telenor, GoPro, Spark Telecom, TicketPro, and many others grow through strategy and product innovation. As an angel investor, he invests in startups through a micro VC fund that he created. He has been involved in startups from ideation to exit, including Jill’s List (acquired by Mindbody), Podium Data (acquired by Qlik), BEZNext (acquired by Dynatrace), and Verbdata (acquired by Revive). Some startups in his portfolio include: Cloaked, Vertosa, Litterati, WillPort, Teamlift, and Showingly. People Operations: Umair is leading a new approach to People Operations and company culture. As the author of The PeopleOps Manifesto (peopleopsmanifesto.org), he is committed to helping CEOs and HR prioritize employee well-being, foster a culture of trust, respect, and accountability, and adapt to the evolving nature of work.
