Alistair founded Luxury Cottages in 2019 to provide a portfolio of luxury homes that excite and amaze guests. Our aim, to combine a portfolio of luxury homes across the UK with a team of dedicated luxury travel experts that know how to market to and service an affluent demographic of guests. Michelle Sephton (ex-MD of Elegant Resorts) joined the business in 2020 and brings over 25 years of experience in luxury travel as well as the experience of building a £60M turnover business and selling it twice. The sector is forecast to represent a c.£3bn revenue opportunity by 2024 (Mintel 2019) with one in four people taking a holiday in a rental accommodation. The industry also has some interesting macro tailwinds. The current Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a surge in domestic travel which is expected to boost a sector that is seeing record numbers of people going on staycations. In addition, more of the Millennial generation are choosing to travel domestically rather than abroad for sustainable purposes.
