Ravi Mhatre is a founder and managing director of Lightspeed Venture Partners, a multistage venture capital firm with 12 offices globally. In his over 25 years as a venture capitalist, Mhatre has partnered with multiple founders to help bring their companies to acquisition and IPO, with a particular focus and passion for founders innovating in enterprise IT, mobility, Internet and cloud-based services and applications, and blockchain technology. Mhatre’s deep expertise in enterprise technology has led him to partner with and invest in the founders behind such transformative companies as AppDynamics, Guardant, MuleSoft, Netskope, Nutanix, Rubrik, Thoughtspot, and Zscaler to name a few. Whether he’s helping founders realize their full potential or hiring new partners who will push the firm forward, his high conviction mindset infuses everything he does. It’s a mindset that was hardwired into him at a young age. The son of an Indian immigrant and a Brooklyn-born mother, he lived on three different continents and in four different states before turning 18. The startup world is inherently fluid, something Mhatre understands instinctively. But it’s only one of the elements that has contributed to his passion for company-building. As a founding member of the firm, Ravi has dedicated his life to hard work and advancing enterprise technology throughout the valley and beyond, beginning with his time at Stanford, where he earned a BS in electrical engineering, a BA in economics, and an MBA. Before entering venture capital, he ran a product management group at Silicon Graphics, worked in management consulting at Booz Allen, and worked as a software engineer for BDIS, a Silicon Valley biotech instrument manufacturer.
