Jason Pontin is a Partner at DCVC, where his belief that emerging technologies and new scientific insights can solve urgent challenges and expand human possibilities inspires his investments in Deep Tech and life sciences companies. Among his operational responsibilities at DCVC, he helps portfolio companies tell their stories. He was the first investor in DCVC-backed Totus Medicines, where he is a founding board member, and in Menten. AI. Before joining DCVC, he was a senior partner and senior advisor at Flagship Pioneering in Cambridge, MA, where he worked with the enterprise’s therapeutics and agriculture companies. Previously, Jason Pontin FRSA was the editor-in-chief and publisher of M.I.T.'s Technology Review until 2017. He was hired as the editor of Technology Review in July 2004, and in August 2005 was named publisher. From 1996 to 2002, Pontin was the editor of Red Herring, a business and technology publication that was popular during the dot-com boom. From 2002 to 2004, he was the editor of The Acumen Journal, a now-defunct magazine about the life sciences that he founded. Pontin has written for a number of national and international magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times, The Economist, The Financial Times, The Believer Magazine, and Wired. He is also a frequent guest on broadcast, public, and cable television news. Finally, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). Jason Pontin attended the University of Oxford.
